The September Sisters – A program on Lata Mangeshkar & Asha Bhosle at the Cinephile Film Club on 7th September…

The Cinephile Film Club presents The September Sisters, a special program on Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, two of the greatest cultural icons of the country, who share their birthdays in September.  The program will be held at Maquinez Palace on 7th September at 5.45 p.m.

The program will be an audio-visual discussion and the most knowledgeable music aficionados in the country will talk about background stories, anecdotes, and trivia of iconic songs.

Pavan Jha is one of the foremost authorities on music in India. Last year, he published a book on the History of Hindi film music, Meel Ke Patthar – Hindi Film Sangeet Ka Safar. He contributes regularly to national dailies and magazines and was also associated with the BBC for contemporary film music.

Archisman Mozumder is an avid music listener with a soft corner for Indian film music and classical music, among other genres. His YouTube channel has several popular and very rare musical gems.

Dr. Chandrashekhar Rao is a dermatologist by profession but music remains his biggest passion. Over the years, he has interviewed greats like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Salil Choudhary, Anil Biswas, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle, and both the ladies, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle, among several others.  

Based in Mumbai, Kushal Gopalka is a musicologist, historian, and archivist, who has written extensively, made documentary films, and curated exhibitions, on Indian music.
