15 MAMI films at the Cinephile Film Club, from 11th – 14th April 

The Cinephile Film Club and the MAMI Year Round Program brings to you 15 diverse films from South Asia.  Starting from 11th – 14th April at the Maquinez Palace Theatre, Panjim, there are some outstanding feature as well as non-feature films as a part of the package.

The feature film on the opening day, 11th Apr, is Against the Tide, the acclaimed film that has traveled around the globe and has won several awards including the Golden Gateway at the MAMI last year. Koval Bhatia, the producer of the film will be present for a Q&A. Yogesh Chandekar who wrote Monica, O My Darling and co-wrote Andhadhun, will be there to present his thriller Giallo, set during Covid times.  

Shivamma directed by Jaishankar Aryar and produced by Rishabh Shetty is also a part of the 15 film line-up. The film has also won accolades at international festivals. 

On Sunday, 14th April, Zende, a documentary on Madhukar Zende the police inspector who famously arrested Charles Shohbraj at the O’Coqueiro restaurant in Porvorim back in 1984, will be screened. The 86-year-old policeman who retired as the Assistant Commissioner of Police in Mumbai will be present for the screening, along with the director and producer of the film. The screening will be followed by a Q&A.  

The screening is free for members while non-members can pay Rs.250 for the whole festival or Rs.120 for each day, at the venue. For membership, please click here
