The Cinephile Film Club presents a special tribute program on 2nd June at 6.15 pm, to the nightingale of India and one of the greatest cultural icons of all time, Lata Mangeshkar, From Madhubala and Nargis to Kajol and Preity Zinta, her voice regaled the nation for over seven decades and her immortal songs are etched in the hearts and minds, forever.
The program will have over 100 video and audio snippets and the most knowledgeable music aficionados in the country will talk about background stories, anecdotes, and trivia of iconic songs.
Pavan Jha is a well-known authority on music, based in Jaipur. Recently he published a book on the History of Hindi film music, Meel Ke Patthar – Hindi Film Sangeet Ka Safar. He contributes regularly to national dailies and magazines and was also associated with the BBC for contemporary film music.
Archisman Mozumder is an avid music listener with a soft corner for Indian film music and classical music, among other genres. His Youtube channel has several popular and rare musical gems.
Dr. Chandrashekhar Rao is a dermatologist by profession but music remains his biggest passion. Over the years, he has interviewed greats like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Salil Choudhary, Anil Biswas, Laxmikant Pyarelal, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle, and the lady herself, Lata Mangeshkar, among several others.
The program will be moderated by film critic Sachin Chatte and it promises to be an evening of unparalleled nostalgia. Entry is free for all on a first-come-first-served basis.
