Sumitra Bhave’s Film Festival on Women’s Day

As 8th March is worldwide commemorated as Women’s Day, on this occasion The Entertainment Society of Goa is organizing a film festival on woman director, Mrs. Sumitra Bhave from 8th to 11th March 2018.

Mrs. Sumitra Bhave is a 7 times National Awards winner and has also won various state awards. Till now she has directed Marathi films namely Doghi, Zindagi Zindabad, Dahavi F, Vastupurush, Devrai, Badha, Nital, Gho Mala Asala Hawa, Ek Cup Chya, Bewaqt Barish, Mor Dekhane Jungle Mein, Ha Bharat Maza, Samhita, Astu, Kaasav. Her recent film “Kaasav” has won awards for Best Film, Best director at the National Awards 2017.

To commemorate women’s day on 8th March, the director Mrs. Sumitra Bhave will be felicitated at the hands of Dr. Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble speaker Goa Assembly at Maquinez Palace at 6.00pm. There will be four films screened namely Doghi, Devrai, Astu and Kaasav. Everyday there will be one screening at 6.30pm at Maquinez Palace.

Lead actor, Dr. Mohan Agashe along with director Ms. Sumitra Bhave & Mr. Sunil Sukthankar will be present for all the screenings at Q & A sessions after each screening. This festival is open to all ESG Cinephile members and others. Entry is free for all on first come first serve basis.

On this occasion, in association with Murgaon Education Society and Ravindra Bhavan Vasco, two movies, Astu & Kaasav will be screened on 9th & 10th March 2018 at Ravindra Bhavan Vasco. This screening will be open for students & parents of all the neighbouring institutions.

Synopsis: Shesh is a tormented man whose past memories and solitude push him over the edge and schizophrenia grips him entirely. He begins to imagine that a forest patch is the answer to all his problems.

Synopsis: The film is about Dr Chakrapani Shastri, a Sanskrit scholar who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and played by Agashe.

Synopsis: The story is of king Satyasheel whose step-mother puts him in a wedlock with her niece Maalvika. The king however finds his love in a court singer whose reflection is formed in his soul’s mirror and she surrenders to the king in love.
