This Thursday, 25th April, 6.30 pm at the Cinephile Film Club, Sachin Chatte will host the screening of the cult classic Japanese film, Yojimbo (1961) directed by Akira Kurosawa. The film was remade in English as A Fistful of Dollars (1961) by Sergio Leone and Last Man Standing (1996) with Bruce Willis in the lead. The details of the film are as given below –

One of the most influential films of all time, Kurosawa’s Yojimbo has a very special place not just in his filmography but in the annals of cinema. The legendary Toshiro Mifune stars in the lead role as a Samurai, who pits two warring factions against each other in this highly stylish film which is known for its cinematography, making it a treat on the big screen. The widescreen and some dramatic shots have admired and dissected endlessly over the years and even Clint Eastwood’s ‘Man with no name’ title in the famous trilogy is inspired by Yojimbo.
