Duration: 1 hr 28 mins

Considered as one of the many great films that Stanley Kubrick made during his illustrious career, Paths of Glory often finds a place in the list of all time great films. Based on a novel by Humphrey Cobb, Kirk Douglas plays a commanding officer of a group of French soldiers who refuse to take orders. He then has to defend them at a court martial. Clocking under 90 minutes, this is a terse and tense film that makes a strong anti-war statement. The tracking shots in the trench in the Oscar nominated 1917, found comparisons with the memorable shots from Paths of Glory.
