JOHAR – THE JHARKHAND ART & FILM FESTIVAL 2017 begun with a great joy and pomp amidst the Goa crowd on 25th May 2017. The 3-day festival named Johar (which means Namaskar) will go on from 25th May to 27th May, 2017.
The festival was inaugurated by Shri Amar Kumar Bauri, Hon’ble Minister of Revenue, Registration & Land Reforms, Tourism, Art Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Government of Jharkhand and Shri. Govind Gaude ,Hon’ble Minister of Arts & Culture, Government of Goa.
Addressing the ceremony, Shri Amar Kumar Bauri said “In the past few years, Goa has done a great job with films and the industry is growing at a steady rate. Their experiences have been valuable to us as a great help while making our films. This is the best platform for Jharkhand and Goan people to exchange their cultures and traditions”.
Shri Govind Gaude expressed his views as “Films and cultural programmes will be the centre of focus for the collaboration between Jharkhand and Goa”.
The amazingly energetic folk dance (nrithya natika) by Jharkhand folk dancers and lamp dance by Goan traditional dancers kept the audience spell-bound.
About 130 people from Jharkhand have come to Goa to showcase the various dance forms popular in Jharkhand. The festival will feature documentary & short films in Jhakhand’s regional languages, art forms, traditional dances of the East Indian State.
