Kala Kirti’s 7th Goa Environmental Festival 2019

The Entertainment Society of Goa in association with Sanjay School, Porvorim commemorated Kala Kirti’s 7th Goa Environmental Festival 2019 in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday 25th September 2019.

The festival inauguration was done in the premises of Sanjay school with the symbolic pouring of water on a banana plant. In his speech at the inaugural function, Hon’ble Chief Minister emphasized on the need to conserve water bodies and assured that the Government will never compromise on River Mhadei.

Speaking further, Dr. Sawant said that Goans should protect the rivers in the state and added that awareness has to be created on the need to save rivers and this awareness has to percolate to the people.

The Chief Minister further added that hosting an Environment festival and taking it to the school students was very important because respect and love for the environment have be inculcated at a school level.

On the occasion, the team of the National award winning Konkani film ‘Amori’-which is based on the topic of water- was felicitated. As part of the environment festival, a State Level College quiz, session on e-waste, were held. As a run-up to the festival, a film competition in association with Entertainment Society of Goa on the theme of ‘Water-Elixir of Life’ was also held and the award winning entries were screened on the occasion.

Present on the occasion of closing ceremony were Chief guest, Shri Rajendra Kerkar, noted Goan Environmentalist, Chief of Honour, Shri Pradeep Surmukadam, Member Secretary, Sanjay School, Ms. Sheru Shirodkar, Ms. Prerna Pawaskar, Ms. Rita Mody Joshi, filmmaker, Shri Dharmanand Vernekar, senior journalist, Shri Prakash Kamat, Shri Pravin Sabnis, among others.

2nd place  – Mr. Benedicta Miranda of Sanjay School , Porvorim for movie “ Water waste is a crime: harvest it ”

College category

1st place – Ms. Savita Manerikar – V D S V Wagle College for movie “Pani”
2nd place –  Mr. Akhil Lotliker – Go Engineering College for movie “ No water?”

Individual category

1st place – Mr. Yatheesh Nair for movie “Red Bucket”
2nd place  – Mr. Benhur Shaan Silva for movie “ Paper Boats”
