The Travelling Edition of the 15th International Association of Women in Radio and Television (IAWRT) Asian Women’s Film Festival organized by the Entertainment Society of Goa was inaugurated on the 17th August at 5 pm. at the hands of Mrs. Amrapali Das, IRS Officer, at Maquinez Palace, ESG, Panaji-Goa. Others present on the dais were Amit Satija, IAS, CEO-ESG, Smt. Mrunal Walke, GM-ESG, Nupur Basu and Afrah Sheikh.
Shri Sachin Chate compered the inaugural function. Mrs. Amrapali Das thanked ESG for having such kind of Film Festivals. She also thanked club members and the Audience present.
From the 50 films that were screened at the festival, a selection of 18 films will be brought for the viewers in Goa. This edition will showcase films by women filmmakers from Turkey, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Taiwan, UAE, Israel, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and India. This year, for the first time, a traveling edition of the festival will take place in Goa, Bhopal, Kohima, Hyderabad and Srinagar.
Film sections are curated thematically looking at topics like ‘Love, Marriage and Relationships’, ‘Border, Homeland and Country’, ‘All Women Families’, ‘Women working in the Media’. There is also a special package of short animation films that will be shown at the festival.
The package includes feature length fiction and documentaries, short films, animation films and a special section of audio documentaries is also curated for this 2 days festival.
The festival which would be held on 17th Aug and 18th Aug 2019 would be a two days entertainment bonanza catering to connoisseurs of 18 Asian Women Filmmakers’s Films.
The screenings will be held at Auditorium 1 of the Entertainment Society of Goa, Panaji on Saturday, 17th of August from 5 pm to 8 pm and Sunday 18th of August from 11 am to 8 pm.
Hence it is a full palate for lovers of Asian Women Filmmaker’s movies. And it’s the best time for Goans to make the most of it.
Entry is open to all above 18 years on a first come first serve basis
